First off, I have been making more pudding, just haven't blogged about it til now.
I made regular pudding but since it's so basic I didn't feel the need to blog about it and I make it all the time so...
I also made maple pudding, which was tasty, but didn't look very pretty :/
And I made sweetened condensed milk strawberry pudding, but that didn't turn out too good, especially since I used non fat milk instead of cream. Yeah, don't do that. Dx
And at this point I don't really need to meticulously translate the recipes since I've gotten the general formula down. Then again some of my puddings may have been bad because of this...^^;
So anyways, without further to do: Mango Pudding! (no image cause I don't have my camera. you all know what it looks like right?)
It's my favorite thing at tea houses, but this Japanese version is slightly different.
It consists of mango puree, sugar, evaporated milk, gelatin, and lemon juice (O_O)
yeah, the lemon juice threw me too, never seen that before. It added an interesting flavor, along with my already not so good mango (one piece would be perfectly sweet, then another bitter D:) So it's pretty tart and is actually not too bad
What I was really proud of was the texture. Last time I made mango pudding with fresh puree, it turned out really pulpy and nasty Dx This one is very smooth and creamy, so I'm happy =D
The mango pudding I love and adore is made from a mix (which I could get at the Chinese super market) but I'd like to try again with fresh mango and make a pudding more reminiscent of the kind in the restaurants.
This is a blog about a Japanese cook book called Purin no Hon or Pudding Book. Powered by my love for Purin, I try my hand at translating and creating each delicious recipe ^_^ Go Pudding!

Pudding Book Recipe 13: Yogurt Pudding
Obviously I'm not going in order, but that makes it more fun, cause I don't have to follow a strict guideline or anything =D
One thing annoying about translating Japanese is converting metric units. *sigh* Which I blame America for, 'cause we're the only fricken country that doesn't use it -_-
Today I made Yogurt Pudding. It mostly consists of plain yogurt and milk, is stiffened with gelatin, and is sweetened mainly with honey. The pudding is topped with a honey and lemon sauce, the tartness of which goes great with the creamy yogurt. ^_^
Plain yogurt with honey has to be one of my favorite foods, so this recipe was right up my alley. =D
It was really simple to make; I didn't have much trouble. I almost measured 5 tablespoons of honey instead of 5 teaspoons, but I caught myself 'cause I was like "no WAY it's THAT much" xD
I don't have any fancy molds, so I used some teacups and muffin tins. If anything I had trouble getting the pudding out of these. It probably could have been more set, but it had been 3 hours and I wanted some pudding! I had to use a knife to scrape at the sides, and the first one was a mess (D:) so I decided to eat that one and try again. The one I was planning on packing in my mom's lunch was my only hope for the night. And thank the lord; it was nice and smooth ^_^ (comparatively) so I decorated it up and took pictures
Here's another picture of the pudding, and the teacup I used to mold it:
Maybe next time I should take pictures of the process as well.
